Youth Fishing Rodeo June 5 At Blue Springs State Park

Blue Springs State Park will host a fishing rodeo on Saturday, June 5, for children age 12 and younger. Registration begins at 7:00 a.m.; fishing will be from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Park admittance is free until 10:00 a.m. for adults bringing children to participate in the fishing event.

A special area of the lake will be stocked with catfish just for this youth activity. Prizes will be given in each age group for the largest fish caught and for the highest total weight of the stringer limit. Anglers should bring their own rod and reel, bait, and stringer. Free refreshments and hot dogs will be provided for the children.

Community fishing events provide the ideal setting to introduce youngsters to fishing. Adults are encouraged to bring their children, neighbors, and friends to Blue Springs State Park for a memorable morning of fishing fun. On the following Saturday, June 12, adults will want to return with their children for a family fishing trip. That’s Alabama’s Free Fishing Day when no fishing license is required.
