Commissioner's Corner

Message from Conservation Commissioner Barnett Lawley

If you’re traveling to the Mobile-Baldwin County area this summer, plan a visit to 5 Rivers – Alabama’s Delta Resource Center. Located along the Causeway, you can make a quick stop or plan a day-long visit.

You can see exhibits in the Apalachee Exhibit Hall, watch a film in the Tensaw Theater, walk the trails, and browse for souvenirs in the Cypress Gift Shop. Bring a lunch and eat outdoors at one of the picnic tables. If you have time, rent a canoe or kayak from the outfitter at Bartram’s Landing and see some of the Delta up close and personal. You can also launch your own canoe or kayak from there. Tours of the Delta by pontoon boat are also available. If you arrive via boat, dock at the powerboat landing during your visit.

Wildlife is common at 5 Rivers, so bring your binoculars and your camera. Click here for more information on the 5 Rivers facility.
