Alligators
Alligators are becoming increasingly abundant in Alabama, and occasionally they may take up residence in a fish pond. Since alligators do not eat enough fish to adversely affect bass-bream balance, they should just be left alone. Do not feed or harass alligators. If they do become a nuisance by attacking ducks or pets, then a local conservation officer should be contacted for removal of the alligator.
The information above came from the Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division's booklet Sportfish Management in Alabama Ponds, which is available as a PDF.
